Fruits have seeds and vegetables don't. Mushrooms aren't a fruit or a vegetable - they are a fungus. Some people think that tomatoes are vegetables, but they are a fruit because they have seeds inside them. Same as cucumbers and courgettes. Examples of vegetables are carrots and potatoes
